Over the Labor Day weekend we attended our cousin Maria’s wedding. I have no doubt that she set a new wedding trend as she had the OMG factor from the start! I am not talking about some Pinterest inspiration for decorations, although she did a lovely job in that department!
This new wedding trend was about friendship . . . deep, loving and dear friendships. I was so moved by this, it still gives me goose bumps!
Traditionally a bride and groom ask their close family and friends to be a part of their wedding party. This is often a difficult decision as it’s hard to limit the number to a small intimate group when you have a large family and/or a lot of dear friends.
Maria’s creative idea helped solve that dilemma in a very special way without going over the top with a huge wedding party.
Women in White
My cousin asked 20 dear girlfriends to wear white with her on her wedding day to celebrate and honor their friendship. Per Maria’s program, these Women in White represented the many wonderful chapters, life experiences and beautiful friendships in her life.
The women consisted of her sister, sister-in-laws, cousins, sorority sisters, teammates, a niece, and other dear friends. One by one, they walked down the aisle while her little cousin and young niece sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
It was such a touching part of a beautiful wedding. Maria is so well-loved and had so many special women in her life. It was a great way to honor them, yet still have a more intimate bridal party consisting of just a few family members that joined the bridal couple on the altar.
White Dresses
Each gal chose her own dress. They ranged from long to short, sleeveless to long sleeves and even a maternity dress. Here’s a sampling of white dresses for this Women in White theme from Nordstrom.
I loved the uniqueness of each dress. It is a reminder that each girlfriend is special to the bride in her own way.
What do you think of the Women in White theme? Do you think this will be a new wedding trend?
