Before we get started with this week’s Worthy Reads, I’d like to share a collage of photos of Nancy and Ronald Reagan.  Thank you Nancy for the love story.  It was a pleasure to witness.  RIP.

How to Keep Your Orchid Happy

How to Keep Your Orchid Happy

Do you grow orchids?  If so, the DIY Network has a great article on How to Keep Your Orchid Happy.   The one thing I need to remember is to fertilize mine.

 Quinoa Burger

I would easily turn my nose up at a veggie burger in the frozen food aisle.  No thank you.  But homemade veggie burgers packed with flavorful ingredients?  Yes please!  This Quinoa Burger from Bon Appétit fits the bill.  While visiting their site, check out the other 24 Ways to Eat Quinoa!

13 Things You Never Knew About Ina Garten

13 Things You Never Knew About Ina Garten

Head on over to Veranda Magazine for an interesting article on Ina Garten.  Personally, I was surprised at her all time most popular recipe on the Food Network.   She also shares her go-to menu for dinner parties.

Room of the Week

Beautiful white and gray bathroom with gold accents. The gold really adds warmth to the room.

Gray can be a very difficult color to work with.  It can lean towards blue or even look institutional.  Not in this bathroom though.  I love how Erin of Elements of Style incorporated gold in her white and gray master bath.  By accenting the room with gold, the room is warm and inviting!

9 Ways to Make Your Life Better with the Danish Concept of Hygge

9 Ways to Make Your Life Better with the Danish Concept of Hygge

I came across this article 9 Ways to Make Your Life Better with the Danish Concept of Hygge in Town & Country Magazine.  Frankly, I had never heard of the word Hygge.  Have you?

“Pronounced “hoo-ga,” this Danish concept cannot be translated to one single word but encompasses a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life.”

So what’s the big deal about Hygge and why am I sharing it?    Well, I found it interesting that “this national obsession with all things cozy is credited as one of the reasons why Denmark is always at the top of the list of the world’s happiest countries, despite their infamously miserable winters.”

I love the positive spin hygge puts on their life. It’s something we should all work at.

I am so thankful that the ice storm that was predicted to hit Columbus never came.  We had a busy weekend with two nights of having guests for dinner.  Friday night I made my tried and true Rack of Lamb.  It’s so easy to prepare and a great entrée for a work night. Last night I tried a couple of new recipes that I will soon share on the blog.

Enjoy this week’s Worthy Reads.
