We had an amazing weekend at the 16th annual golf memorial in memory of my brother Bob, raising money for the American Cancer Society. Approximately 240 golfers and another 80 people gathered to make this event successful.
Many of the golfers have become regular supporters and the volunteers selflessly give their time. I am one proud sister. It’s a huge tribute to my brother as to how much he was loved and is missed and my other sibling, my dear sister Carolyn, organizes the whole event. My parents, nieces, brother-in-law, husband and other family members play a huge role in the event as well. It’s a bittersweet weekend for us as a family but it’s a great example of making the best of a tragic situation.
My brother was known for his generous support of many fundraisers and for giving back to the community. An article was written in our local paper after his death about the lasting impression he left on our town. I love how the writer ended her article. She said “There is always a reason for death. His may have been to demonstrate how even a relatively short lifespan can still constructively affect a community. What will you leave behind? It’s a thought we should all consider.”
Once we got home last night I had time to relax and gather some fun links from around the web for this week’s Worthy Reads.
48 of Amal Clooney’s Prettiest Looks
I have shared with you before that I am an Amal Clooney fan. She has a great fashion sense and the magazines also love her. Elle recently shared 48 of Amal Clooney’s Prettiest Looks.
Room of the Week
I found this grand foyer from the 2014 Coastal Living Showhouse at My Domain. This is one of those rooms that you could roam in for awhile to take in all of the books, accessories, etc.
Recipe of the Week
Cooking during the summer is all about grilling for me and I like to find new recipes to try. I saw one for grilling cabbage on Buzz Feed’s 38 Grilling Recipes That Will Make You Want To Be Vegetarian and had to add that to my list. If you like to grill, you will also enjoy looking through the other recipes at that link.
The Food Processor: 13 Ways to Use It & 20 Recipes to Prove It
I found this great reminder of what we can use our food processor for at Amanda’s Cookin. I for one will be making lots of pesto this summer. It’s one of my favorites!
The 20 Most Visited Museums in the USA
Summer travel is here and many vacationers will have a trip to a museum on their agenda. USA Today shares a list of the 20 Most Visited Museums in the USA. We will be touring the Getty Villa in California when we visit my sister-in-law. We have already been to the Getty Center which is on this list.
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.
