I was thrilled to be asked to join the Merry & Bright 2015 Holiday Home Tour by my blogger friend Shelly from Confetti Style.
For the next three weeks you will get to enjoy touring the homes of nine bloggers. We will be sharing our Christmas decor and how we’ve made our homes Merry & Bright for the holidays. At the end of the post, I will share the links to the other eight bloggers.
If you arrived here from Kellie’s Design Asylum Blog, welcome. Regardless of how you got here, thanks for stopping by. Let’s get started.
Welcome to My Holiday Home Tour
It felt strange decorating the outside of my house this year. Our weather was so unseasonably warm. I felt like I lived in the south instead of Ohio!
Come On In!
Making My Dining Room Merry & Bright
Our Christmas Tree Story
Our Christmas tree is all about sentiment. Every single ornament that goes on the tree has personal meaning.
We have made it a habit of collecting ornaments from our travels . We have also received many fabulous ornaments as gifts such as the hand painted picture of our house. We enjoy reminiscing as we place each ornament on the tree.
Our tree skirt was made by my husband’s mother when he was a child. It’s a wonderful memory for him and we enjoy having it grace our tree.
Our Great Room
Our great room is where we spend a lot of our time. It’s a fabulous room with walls of windows, overlooking the woods and golf course behind our house.
My holiday decorating around my fireplace is minimal. Last year we converted our fireplace to a ventless one (you can read about it here). It’s one of the best things we have done in upgrading our home. It keeps our large great room warm and cozy which also means it lets out a lot of heat. I am not comfortable adding garland and other greenery near the fireplace as it’s a fire hazard.
To get my greenery fix, I enjoy displaying some evergreens and berries in a vase on the mantel.
Our Powder Room
Small decorations look lost against the oversized mirror in our powder room. Instead, I like one large statement piece for the counter.
My Sunroom Snowmen
Although we do not use our sunroom in the winter, I walk by it daily as it’s located right off my kitchen. It’s the perfect home for my snowmen collection. It’s as if they greet me every time I walk by. They make me smile.
