Before & After Pictures of Georgian Home’s Charming Renovation
Southern Living Magazine (Story by Zoe Gowenat) at its best! One of my favorite features of their magazine is when they do a charming renovation and show the before and after pictures.
Too many homes today lack charm and character, but not this one thanks to Architects Paul Bates and Jeremy Corkem of Bates Corkern Studio. This 1920’s Charlotte, North Carolina home came to life with a lightened brick and cream shutters, new entry and garage doors. The house had good bones and structure but lacked any OMG street appeal.
I love how they lightened the brick with a limewash (paint diluted with water and mixed with sand). It truly softened up the harsh brick.
The black shutters were painted a cream color and the entry was replaced with arched french doors with a transom and flanked by door length green shutters.
The green and cream stripes on the garage doors scream OMG … such character and charm.
Kudos Paul & Jeremy … you have great taste and talent!
