There’s a trend happening in the housing world. Many home buyers are opting to scale down their home size. They have a “less is more” attitude. Although buyers may want smaller homes, they also want a home with style and character.
Whether you are downsizing because you are empty nesters and the kids have moved on or you just don’t want all of that space, home builders are listening. Smaller homes are popping up throughout the country such as this new one featured in Southern Living.
Smaller Homes are Charming
When I travel, whether through the US or abroad, I love scouting out older communities with charming smaller homes.
Every time I visit Carmel by-the-Sea, I can spend hours walking up and down the streets looking at their adorable cottages. If you have never been to Carmel, you will want to visit after reading my post Charming Carmel by-the-Sea.

Charming Communities in Your Own City
I don’t even need to go abroad to see charming European villages. In Columbus, we have an area downtown called German Village with cobblestone streets and adorable brick cottages. I especially love visiting in the summer when the window boxes are full of blooms.
