I am excited to join in on the Fall 2014 One Room Challenge Linking Event! Linda from the blog Calling it Home started this great event several years ago.
There are two parts to this challenge.
Part One: One Room Challenge Participants
Twenty Design Bloggers have been invited to join the challenge of taking one room and redoing it in six weeks time. These Bloggers will post their progress every Wednesday so that their readers can see the transformation.
Following are the links to these 20 Design Blogs so that you too can what the transformations.
Part Two: One Room Challenge Linking Participants
Linda has also invited other bloggers such as me to join the fun as a One Room Challenge Linking Participant. Participating bloggers will be sharing their progress on Thursdays.
My One Room Challenge – Week #1
I have chosen my foyer/hallway as my one room challenge. We have lived in our home for sixteen years. When we moved in I made a few changes to the foyer. Now it’s time to step it up a notch. This challenge is the perfect opportunity to get my game on.
In a former post I shared how we replaced our solid entry door with a glass door with sidelites. The foyer was too dark and I craved some natural light.
At that time, I also replaced the oriental runner from the previous owners. I chose a cream berber style carpet and added a leopard border. It’s old and tired and time for new carpet.
Those changes were made sixteen years ago. Now I am excited to redo my foyer, staircase and upstairs landing/hallway as part of this One Room Challenge.
I am just as excited to see the other participants as they redo a room in their home. I have always been intrigued with Before & After pictures. The creativity of others inspires me.
Ready, set, go! Stay tuned every Thursday for the next six weeks and watch my progress.

Elaine, I love the runner on your steps! Beautiful!
Elaine says
Thanks Sherry. I think you will love the new one too!
Delia @songthatdoesntend says
Good luck Elaine.! I love the runner you have right now 🙂
Elaine says
Thanks for stopping by Delia! I have enjoyed my runner with the leopard border . . . it jazzed up my colonial style home which was very traditional when we moved in. After 16 years, it is worn and needs to be replaced. I am ready for new! If you love animal print, you will love the new one too 🙂
My best,
Elaine

I love entry makeovers – we’re doing a mini makeover in ours right now! Although that’s probably on hold for the next 5 weeks during the ORC 🙂 I can’t wait to follow along and see your progress each week.
Elaine says
Thanks Melissa. I’ll head on over to your site to see your ORC. It’s such a great concept and love the interaction with everyone!
My best,
Elaine
