We finally have some sun in Columbus but rain is in the forecast again! I am so ready to work in my yard! How about you?
My first Worthy Read is a great article from Better Homes & Gardens on complimentary plants and shrubs. If you like to garden you will be inspired by their suggestions. After a day in the garden, fire up the grill for this amazing steak recipe and grilled pineapple dessert. Enjoy those and my other two links for this week’s Worthy Reads.
What Should I Plant Together
Better Homes & Gardens offers great advice on what to plant together. In the picture above, they show two different varieties of hostas that compliment each other. Don’t you love the Chartreuse against the green? The astilbe is one of my favorites. (See my post featuring the astilbe in my garden.) BH&G shares 33 combinations including tropical plants and you don’t have to live in the tropics to enjoy them!
Recipe of the Week
There is nothing like steaks on the grill! This Perfectly Grilled Steak with Herb Butter from Iowa Girl Eats looks so juicy and flavorful. The best part is that it is easy and great for entertaining.
Room of the Week
There is so much I love about this stunning foyer found at Cote de Texas, starting with the arched glass doors. Such a great tip to add a mirror to reflect the outdoors! It gives you the feeling you are looking out a window. Be sure to click on the link and tour the rest of this beautiful home.
1010 Park Place
When you think of grilling you probably think of grilling meat and seafood. Well, there is a whole other category to consider when firing up the grill. Think fruits such as pineapple, peaches and watermelon to name a few. Head on over to my post at 1010 Park Place for some great recipes. One of my favorites is peaches wrapped with bacon for an appetizer! Salty and sweet! Yes, please!
How to Clean and Maintain a Smelly Front Loading Washing Machine
We invested in a front loading washing machine years ago and we were so surprised when it started to smell musty! We had no idea when we purchased it that we would end up having to clean the washing machine. Here’s a great article on How to Clean and Maintain a Smelly Front Loading Washing Machine from Dr. Karen. The one thing we do on a regular basis is keep the door to the washing machine open to air out. That really helps.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week.

I feel that front loading eco friendly washers just do not clean as well as the top loaders though, as I’m short, it’s certainly easier to reach the laundry. I’ve heard from a few others who also feel the laundry doesn’t get as clean. I leave the door open between uses, wipe out the door and run a Tide cleaning product through periodically but next time I buy it will be a water wasting top loader!

Sounds like you are as disappointed with yours as we are with ours! So much for trying to be eco friendly!
