This weekend in Columbus we experienced several seasons in a matter of hours. It’s the prettiest time of year with all of the blooming trees. As I drove into my neighborhood on Saturday evening, it was spitting snow and super windy. As I approached my driveway, the snow and wind stopped and the sun started to shine through the clouds.
Since the temperatures dipped it was cold enough to enjoy my fireplace one more time and scour the web for some great links for this week’s Worthy Reads. Enjoy.
Cooking Tips from the Pros
Bon Appétit has a section called, Cook Like a Pro, in which they ask some of their favorite chefs for their essential techniques, along with advice on fearlessly frying, flipping, seasoning, and more. This week they featured 12 Pro Techniques Every Serious Home Cook Should Know.
The first one is a great tip and reminder to even the seasoned cook. In French, it’s Mise en Place. It means you get all your prepped ingredients in one place before you even turn on the stove. I should have done this last week when preparing dinner. I was half way through cooking only to find out I was out of an ingredient that I thought I had.
They have some other great links within the article as well.
Recipe of the Week
This Spring Salad with Asparagus, Goat Cheese, Lemon and Hazelnuts from Proud Italian Cook not only sounds delicious but also looks beautiful. It’s asparagus season so take advantage of it and give this recipe a try.
Shows To Watch If You’re Still Not Over Downton Abbey
Michelle Mulligan of Veranda Magazine wrote a post about The Shows To Watch If You’re Still Not Over Downton Abbey. I guess I am not alone. I am still in mourning over the loss of my favorite series. Let me know if you are watching any of her suggestions and how you like them.
Room of the Week
There is nothing more peaceful than a lake house setting. The water is so still and the view is breathtaking. That’s why I am drawn to this lake house porch featured in Atlanta Homes. Click on the link to tour the rest of the home.
