It’s the week of Christmas and everyone is busy with last-minute preparations. In this week’s OMG Worthy Reads, you will find beautiful shades of red to rock your holiday manicure, tour a designer’s apartment, find inspiration in dressing up for New Year’s Eve in a Little Black Dress, a tip on how to jazz up your holiday packages and a recipe for Christmas Breakfast that you can make the night before. Enjoy.
Rocking a Red Mani & Pedi
The majority of the year I wear a neutral nail polish on my hands but always wear color on my toes. At the holidays though I like to also wear red on my hands as it is so much more festive. It’s finding the time to polish them that is the challenge. Check out the great selection from Live Love Lipstick.
OMG Worthy Reads Celebrity Home Tour
My favorite repeated guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show was Designer Nate Berkus. I enjoyed watching him redo a variety of homes on the show. This week’s celebrity home tour is Nate’s Chicago apartment from Elle Decor. I love his area rugs. They add color, texture and design to all his rooms.
The Little Black Dress from 1920 to 2014
New Year’s Eve is approaching so I thought it was appropriate to feature the Little Black Dress (aka LBD) in this week’s Worthy Reads. It’s been the staple of our wardrobe for years. Elle Magazine chronicles the LBD from Coco Chanel in the 20’s to Beyoncé in 2014. Enjoy perusing through 32 pictures of the Evolution of the Little Black Dress.
Make Ahead Christmas Breakfast
No one has time to slave in the kitchen for breakfast to feed out-of-town guests. Why not make Steel Cut Oatmeal in the crockpot? You can prepare it the night before and wake up to breakfast already cooked. I found a recipe at The Kitchn and it looks delicious. Serve with a variety of toppings including dried cranberries, raisins, brown sugar, walnuts and almonds.
Jazz Up Your Holiday Gift Wrapping
Any easy way to jazz up your Christmas packages is something that you can do at the last-minute. Add some evergreen cuttings to your packages as shown in the package above from Belle Vivir. You don’t want to do this too early because the greenery will dry out.
Lastly, embrace your family and enjoy their company this week. Two of my friends lost their mother this past week and it is a reminder that we need to enjoy what we have while we have it.
Happy holidays!
