Happy new year to you and yours. My very best wishes for good health, prosperity and peace in the new year.
It’s good to be back from some time off during the holidays. I love the new year. It’s a time of new beginnings and puts me in the mood to get organized. I’m kicking of the first Worthy Read with a new book that I am reading that takes organizing to a whole new level.
The Art of Tidying Up
I helped a neighbor of mine move from a house to an apartment. While another friend and I watched the movers bring box after box into the small apartment, we wondered where everything would go. This friend told me about a book she just read called The Art of Tidying Up and that everyone should read it, especially before moving!
This best-selling guide to decluttering your home from Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes readers step-by-step through her revolutionary KonMari Method for simplifying, organizing, and storing.
I’ve just gotten into it and am looking forward to delving in. I am breaking down some of her tips into smaller jobs to make it more manageable for me. For instance, she says to remove all of your clothes from your closet. Since I sort my closet by types of clothes and then by color, I am doing one section and one color at a time (ie: removing all black tops from my closet and then following her method of organizing them). So far I am off to a good start!
Room of the Week
With my mood to get organized, it only made sense to select a beautiful closet for my room of the week. I love this one found at The Goop. If you are looking for more tips on getting organized, read their article Organization Tips from the Goop Fashion Closet.
Recipe of the Week
I make soup every week during the winter. This week I am going to try this Avgolemono Soup (aka Greek Lemon Chicken Soup) from Kevin at Closet Cooking. I love adding lemon juice to chicken soup. It adds so much flavor.
For a tip on how I store lemon juice, read my post For Lovers of Lemon Juice.
