Liebster Award – Discover New Blogs
Have you ever followed a Pinner on Pinterest or read a blog post about something that you are passionate about and thought “Wow, we could be friends!”. Well, that’s how I feel about Shelly from the blog ConfettiStyle. I was immediately drawn to her design style and love the way she writes.
So as you can imagine, I was touched when Shelly nominated me for the Liebster Award. This award is given by fellow bloggers as a way of introducing new blogs to their followers while at the same time learning about the people who actually write the blog. As a nominee I am to answer 11 random questions (from my nominator) and then create my own questions for the bloggers I nominate.
Random Questions from my Nominator
Here are the 11 questions Shelly asked to get to know me a little better:
1. If you had to use three words to describe your style what would they be?
I’m assuming the question is decorating style and not personal style, so my answers would be eclectic, colorful and classic.
2. What’s the favorite decorative accessory you own?
A brass lamp that my grandmother brought back from the old country in the early 1930’s. When it’s lit at night, the light shines through the cut work design and reflects on the ceiling.
3. What’s your biggest pet peeve?
Too many people don’t RSVP when they receive an invitation
4. If you had the chance to be on a game show which show would you like to be on and why?
The only game shows I have watched in recent years would be Jeopardy and Who Wants to be a Millionaire, but I would never want to be a contestant on them.
5. Name two things on your bucket list.
To rent a villa in Sicily and live amongst the locals for several weeks and to visit Washington D.C. during Cherry Blossom Season.
6. What’s the best gift you’ve ever given and the best gift you’ve ever received?
There are so many types of gifts – – love and friendship and other non-tangible gifts. I’ll go the tangible route for this post.
The best gifts I have ever given have been personal hardback photo books that I have made on Shutterfly. I have had several books made for milestone birthday celebrations and one oversized book for my dear friends that took us on a wine country trip to Napa and San Francisco. This book highlighted the great weekend we had visiting wineries and touring San Francisco. The pictures truly captured our wonderful time and I loved the book so much that I had one made for me too! What I love is that the gift keeps on giving since it is full of great memories.
The best gift I have ever received was when I inherited my grandmother’s gold mesh bracelet with her initial on it. Her mother gave it to her 80 years prior on her wedding day. It’s beautiful and surprisingly modern.
7. Stranded on an island, what magazine would you want to have with you?
I am a magazine junkie. If I could only pick one, it would have to be about cooking so I would pick the Food Network Magazine. Since I would be stranded on an island with limited food, I could at least dream about the delicious recipes.
8. You are throwing the dinner party of your life. What famous people would you invite and why?
This selection of dinner guests is very random … names that come to mind immediately.
Nate Berkus – Love his work and would love to learn from him
Hoda Kobte – She seems like she would be fun to be around plus I want to know where she buys her beautiful dresses on the Today Show.
Dr. Oz – I enjoy his show and have learned a lot from him
Brian Williams & Lester Holt – Love how they deliver the news and believe they would be interesting to talk to.
Jay Leno – He makes me laugh
9. If you could hire one famous designer to build your dream home, who would it be and why?
Nate Berkus. He has a great eye for design and color.
10. What would you do if you won the lottery?
Who hasn’t had that dream? Aside from giving to charity and church, here are three things I would love to do:
~ Rent several large villas somewhere for my extended family so we could all vacation together.
~ I would host a monthly brunch at a local assisted living center and have it catered with the best breakfast/brunch food around. I visit my friend’s 95 year old uncle at a nursing home and he says that they just don’t do breakfast right. Little things mean so much to the elderly and I would get so much pleasure from seeing their joy.
~ Revamp my wardrobe! It’s a dream so it’s okay to be a little selfish here, right?
11. What one power tool or crafting tool could you not live without?
I’m not much of a crafter or power tool user.
