Last weekend I wanted a break from watching football and TV in general. My husband and I were enjoying a wonderful weekend at home and had just finished dinner. Instead of TV, we opted to turn on some great music, open a bottle of wine and played several rounds of one of our favorite games, Rummikub.
Game night is a fun evening whether just the two of us are playing a game or we are playing with a group. Following are some of my favorite games for game night.
Rummikub
Rummikub is similar to the card game Gin Rummy. You play with tiles and you can work with those tiles that have already been played.
We love to get creative and have been known to rearrange the whole board just to get rid of our last tile! It’s competitive and fun. Two to four players can play Rummikub.
A Lazy Suzan is a Must for Game Night
Years ago I purchased this oversized wood Lazy Suzan and we use it to play games on. It’s so nice to be able to rotate the game to whoever’s turn it is, so you are not looking at the game sideways or upside down.
Game Night with Friends & Family
I have always been a fan of games since I was little. As kids, we loved playing Monopoly and many other games. As an adult, I enjoy playing games with friends and family.
Charades is fun to play with a group, no board or accessories needed.
Following are some other games that we have enjoyed playing in a group.
Mexican Train Dominos
A fun game for a group of friends is a Dominos game called Mexican Train Dominos. I have no idea how it got that name! Two to eight players can play. You can play off your own tiles as well as the Mexican Train or other team members when their train is down.
Catch Phrase
Catch Phrase is a fast paced talking game for a group. Players get clues to guess a word or phrase.
Five Second Rule
In 5 Second Rule, a player picks a card and has only five seconds to name three things that fit the topic. You’d be surprised at how difficult it can be sometimes. Five seconds is pretty quick!
Taboo
The game Taboo is another game that challenges you to guess words and phrases.
