Fall is one of the easiest seasons to decorate your home. By decorating with natural elements from your yard or local nursery, you can add some fall color to your home. Gather some mini pumpkins, bittersweet branches, hedge apples or colorful leaves and make one of these simple yet elegant centerpieces for the autumn season.
Hedge Apples or Monkey Balls?
When I was a child we called these textured green balls “Monkey Balls”. They are also known as “Hedge Apples”. If you are familiar with them, what did you call them?
These monkey balls were more of a nuisance when I was younger, getting in the way of mowing the lawn. Now I wish I had a monkey ball tree in my yard for my fall decorating.
I love the color of these green balls against the red berries in this arrangement. This is a beautiful centerpiece for an outdoor tablescape as shown. I also think it would be a warm welcome to visitors in a foyer.
Here’s another great use of monkey balls. A simple and easy fall centerpiece with berries, pinecones and leaves. A great splash of color to any fall decor.

Fall Centerpieces with Bittersweet
Bittersweet berries are perfect for fall decorating. They grow on a vine as shown in the picture below. You can find small bunches at your local nursery.
Bittersweet branches add a touch of sophistication to a simple display of mini pumpkins as shown below.
It just takes a few branches of fall berries to make a fall statement! I love how light and airy this simple autumn arrangement is.
Mums Scream Fall
Mums not only scream fall but I also think they are screaming “Winter is coming!” They last a long time and they are the last bright colors of the year before the cold weather sets in for winter! They look just as great outdoors as they do indoors.
I love finding new uses for silver and these mums put a silver champagne bucket to good use. They look elegant and the berries compliment the golden blooms.
It is so much fun to entertain outside in the fall. It’s light enough when your guests arrive for your dinner party and they can enjoy your fall tablescape. Once the sun sets, you can enjoy a casual candlelight dinner. These mini pumpkins add an elegant touch to your outdoor theme.
Simple Fall Centerpieces with Leaves
Once the leaves start to turn color, you can cut some branches from your yard and bring the fall foliage inside. I love the ombre effect in the arrangement below, from light to dark.
These fall leaves are in their prime! They make a simple bouquet in a contemporary vase. Bring on the color! Both fall foliage arrangements are by Better Homes & Gardens.
Every arrangement shown is simple to put together, yet each one adds a fabulous punch of color to your fall decor.
Next week I’ll share some of my favorite fall pumpkins. How do you like to decorate for fall?

The leaves are so much prettier on the branch…as opposed to sitting on our lawn!

Love the second photo. I am going to try to make that one. I will send a photo if it looks good.
