Whether it’s privacy you are craving or wanting to screen out the sun or an unsightly neighbor’s yard, this post on attractive privacy screens is for you.
Today I am sharing over a dozen ideas for adding privacy screens to your home. They come in all shapes and sizes whether you are screening a yard or a small apartment patio. They can be a fence, shutters, curtains as well as live or faux plants.
Which of the following would you like to have?
Wood Privacy Screens
Wood privacy screens can be very attractive. They can be contemporary or more traditional. Regardless of the style, they add great privacy and will last for years to come.

Shutters & Curtains as Privacy Screens
If you are looking for sun protection, outdoor shutters and curtains are an option. I personally love the idea of shutters. They still allow air to circulate but can be adjusted to block the sun or give you privacy.

Outdoor curtains can also give you flexibility to open and close them as needed.

Bermuda shutters can be opened up to allow more air flow. By blocking the sun, you can totally change the temperature of a porch or patio. These shutters really give you a feeling of being somewhere tropical, don’t they?

This wall of shutters offers privacy and texture to the patio.

Live Plants and Trees as Privacy Screens
If you prefer to go green, consider plants such as Horsetail Grass or Bamboo in planters.

You can nestle ornamental grasses close together to give you privacy.

Ivy on a trellis will give you some natural privacy as well.

If you know you are going to be in your home a long time, you can invest in some Hornbeam Trees to create a wall of privacy.

Faux Greenery Privacy Panels
Yes, Faux Greenery Panels! Who knew? Personally, I am still getting over my surprise of faux flowers in the window boxes at the Waldorf Astoria when I stayed there last month. I had no idea until I saw them up close! If it looks real, I’m all for faux privacy panels. It’s instant privacy and no watering or patience needed.

Portable Privacy Screens
Sometimes you just need a temporary fix. In that case, turn to portable screens.

These examples have inspired me to look at options for my screened-in porch. We lost some trees recently and it made a big difference this summer. The trees not only offered privacy but protection from the sun. Which is your favorite?
