Celebrity Airport Fashion from the 60’s to Today
Back in the day it was a priority to travel in style, whether you were a celebrity or not. See celebrity airport fashion trends from the 60’s to today.
Back in the day it was a priority to travel in style, whether you were a celebrity or not. In those days you flew in your best clothes and many women wore high heels. Perhaps airports weren’t near the size they are today, but still, high heels?
Styles certainly change with the times. Following is a peak into celebrity airport fashion dating back to the 60’s.
Yesteryear’s Celebrity Airport Fashion
Marilyn Monroe stepped out of her tight skirts to travel in more comfortable pants.

Brigitte Bardot’s 1966 tailored pantsuit.
Between the hat and the white boots, Ursula Andress definitely is entering the 70’s with a bang.

In the early 60’s Sophia Loren is seen here traveling in a formal dress and hat.
Today’s Celebrity Airport Fashion
Fast forward to today and you will find everything at the airport. I’m all for being comfortable but you can still dress casually with style.
Following are some of my favorite celebrity airport looks. These stars got it right by picking neutrals such as black, gray and navy for their travel wardrobe.
I particularly like wearing darker colors. It’s so easy to get dirty from spilled drinks on the plane or from a greasy luggage wheel.
The majority are wearing flats which are needed for comfort. After all, you want to save your feet for those gorgeous heels for dinner.
First off is Reese Witherspoon who looks chic in black and white.
Here’s another one of her travel outfits. Simple yet stylish.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s gray scarf is the perfect accessory to her all black outfit.
I love Gwyneth’s tailored gray coat.
Nicole Kidman looks stylish wearing all black.
Angelina Jolie is also a fan of all black. It really is the ideal color to wear when traveling to look fresh and clean on arrival.
Hopefully Salma Hayek has a pair of flats in her bag for comfort on the plane. All of these celebrities carry one great oversized bag that is their carryall. No need to carry a purse and a tote.
Cindy Crawford’s scarf and necklace also add style to her simple jeans and sandals look.
Cameron Diaz traveled on the wild side in her animal print pants.
At 77 Jane Fonda proves you can be stylish at any age.
What do you like to wear when traveling by plane?

Classic Monochromatic Fashion
Monochromatic fashion will never go out of style. It’s classic. Outfits in the same color from head to toe make you feel taller, thinner and stylish.

Blog Anniversary
Before I get into this post further, I want to share that today is OMG Lifestyle’s third anniversary! It was three years ago today that I began this wonderful creative journey.
I have learned so much and have met so many wonderful people. Thank you to my many loyal readers which have grown beyond my dreams. My blog has found its own little space on this vast internet. I am in amazement that I have had 1.5 Million visits during this time. Thank you!
Matching Monochromatic Colors

Monochromatic colors are all the colors of a single hue. However, not all shades of one color look good together. It depends on the tone and shade of that color.
And if you want to wear the same tone from head to toe, it can be a challenge. It’s not always easy to find matching colors unless they were designed together.
Every once in a while though, I feel like I hit the jackpot when I find tops and bottoms in the same color tone. Oddly enough, black is often the hardest shade to match. Have you found that too?
Following are some great examples of fashionable monochromatic outfits.
Classic Black
Black on black is the most common monochromatic choice when pulling an outfit together. I remember walking the streets of Manhattan years ago and looking around at all the people. Everyone was in black. It was almost a uniform.

Monochromatic Fashion in Shades of Blue
If you wear a lot of black like me, you will feel different when you switch to a different color. Even wearing a dark shade like this blue outfit will feel lighter. Have you noticed that?

Monochromatic Green
Actress Allison Janey looks stunning in her hunter green leather pants and matching sweater. Don’t you agree?

Brown on Brown
This brown on brown outfit is a perfect match!

Head to Toe Gray
I think everyone looks great in gray! It’s a soft neutral.

Classic Cream
Perhaps no one does monochromatic clothes better than St. John Knits. They are famous for their monochromatic separates.

White Out
I live in white jeans all summer long and even into fall (See my post Transitioning White Jeans Into Fall). I love the crisp look of an all white outfit.

Accessorize
When you wear all one color, you can keep it simple or you can turn to your accessories to make a statement. Think leopard purse, bold cuff bracelet, etc.
What’s your favorite color to wear from head to toe?
Thanks for stopping by. Have a fabulous weekend.

My 5 Favorite Neutral Nail Polish Colors for Fall
I am loving the neutral nail polish colors for fall. I recently purchased five that are great for both manis and pedis. These colors go with everything.
I am loving the neutral nail polish colors for fall. I recently purchased five that are great for both a mani and a pedi. In fact, what I like about this selection is that I can mix and match. I may want a darker color on my toes and a lighter one for my hands. That’s the beauty of the neutral colors.
As much as I love classic red for nails, these neutral colors feel fresh and on trend.

Neutral Nail Polish Colors
All of these nail polish colors can be found on Amazon (affiliate links below) or at your local drug store. Brands included are Sally Hansen, Revlon and Essie.
1. Sally Hansen Commander in Chic
Sally Hansen’s Commander in Chic #290 is a gray-brown nail polish, perfect for fall’s rich colors.
2. Revlon Serene
Revlon’s Serene #320 is a lovely light brown shade. It’s so neutral it goes with everything.
3. Essie Lady Like
Essie’s Lady Like #316 is a very soft mauve. The hint of brown makes it less pink which I like.
4. Revlon Elegant
Revlon’s Elegant #380 Nail Polish is just that – – Elegant! It’s a light beige and very neutral.
5. Essie Vanity Fairest
Essie’s Vanity Fairest #120 is a great all around neutral. Think French Manicure without the white tips. In the photo below it looks much more pink than it does in person. My photo above is more accurate with the color.
Out-the-Door Top Coat
I wouldn’t be able to do my nails at home without this fabulous top coat. Out-the-Door helps speed up the drying. I love the name, don’t you?
It has a high gloss finish and will not yellow. You can also use it alone but I like to use it over polish to accelerate the drying time.
Thanks for stopping by. Let me know if you try any of these.

8 More Beauty Makeovers with Before & After Pics
I am sharing 8 of the Today Show’s beauty makeovers, aka Ambush Makeovers. I love the before & after pics. Hair, makeup and clothes make such a difference!
This is the third post I have written on the Today Show’s Beauty Makeovers, aka Ambush Makeovers. I just love seeing the before and after pictures. Louis Licari and Jill Martin do an amazing job of making these women feel great about themselves. My favorite part is seeing when they turn around to see their transformation in the mirror.
If you are not familiar with their Ambush Makeovers, they select two women from their audience and make them over from head to toe. Often times these are women who have put so many others first in their life and haven’t had the time to take care of themselves.
It’s amazing how changing a hairstyle or hair color can make such a dramatic difference. The makeup is subtle but well done.
When it comes to outfitting these gals, Jill often selects more form-fitting clothes which ends up being more slimming than their baggy clothes.
