How to Style Tulips for Spring Arrangements
Just as tulips come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors, there are so many unique ways to style them in your vase or container such as these examples.
Tulip Season
I haven’t met a tulip that I didn’t like until I came across black ones. They are a bit too gothic for me. I prefer the bright and stunning colors of traditional tulips.
Tulip Fields in Amsterdam
Years ago I had a layover at the Amsterdam airport in the spring. Tulips had taken over the fields. I was like a kid in a candy store. I was in awe of the view from my airplane window. It was a breathtaking sight as we flew over those colorful fields.
Silver Worthy
Tulips are available in stores at reasonable prices. I think most of you know by now that Costco and Trader Joe’s are two of my favorite places to purchase flowers.
Once you buy your tulips, how do you style them in your vase? I love the look of silver containers. I think flowers look especially elegant when paired with silver and these striking white and red ones are no exception. I also love repurposing silver pieces such as the silver champagne bucket below.

Tie twine, raffia or tropical leaves around the stems for a chic contemporary look.

Green grass lines this circular vase with the tulip stems off to one side. So unique!
Potted Tulips
Planting tulips in my yard is a waste of time and money. The deer and squirrels always win that war.
If you have that same problem but love the look of tulips and want to decorate your entrance for a special occasion, you can purchase potted tulips and place in your urns before your event.
Note: I put a penny in my vases with tulips. I feel that they last longer. There is no scientific research that stands behind this but I heard of this tip years ago and have been doing it ever since. Just don’t forget about that penny when you empty the water down the drain! Trust me, it’s not fun trying to retrieve it.
Which of these tulip displays is your favorite style?
