Place Colorful Fall Branches in a Vase
Borrow from Mother Nature and bring some colorful fall branches inside to add a pop of color to your home. Love how simple and elegant these branches look.
I am excited for my family to visit this weekend. Our fall foliage in our backyard is spectacular! It’s at its peak. The colors are so gorgeous I decided I needed to borrow some of mother nature’s beauty and place some colorful fall branches in a vase in my dining room. If you are a regular reader of my blog, you will know I have a decorating obsession with tree branches. See my post Decorating with Branches Adds Life to a Room.
Our Fall Foliage Color
In my backyard, the yellows are dominant this year with a sprinkling of orange. We don’t have much red compared to other years. How about your neck of the woods?

I found this article Why do leaves change color in fall interesting. It’s not just the type of tree that determines the colors. A great deal depends on the weather.
Fall Branches Add Color to Your Home
I just had my dining room painted this week. I went back to a neutral off white which matches our woodwork. The walls were previously gold.
My inspiration for the change came from a photo I shared in my OMG Worthy Reads. It was a picture of a living room in Traditional Home Magazine. I liked the simplicity of the off white walls and the black accessories.
When you make a major change such as changing wall color, it takes some getting used to. At first it seemed stark.
As I was putting my dining room back together this morning, I decided I needed to add some color to my husband’s bourbon bar. I store his growing collection of Bourbon on a brown leather tray on our buffet. The buffet is black and the bottles of bourbon are all dark.
Adding color was a simple fix that didn’t cost a penny. I went into my backyard, clipped two branches and placed them in a vase with water.

I love placing arrangements in front of a mirror such as on this buffet. The mirror doubles the beauty.
The splash of color is the perfect addition to the room. It is also a reminder to me that my off white walls are the perfect backdrop for my art, even if it’s borrowed from mother nature.
