Small Homes Can Be So Charming
I have always loved smaller homes. They can ooze charm and can be so welcoming and inviting when done right. One of my favorite towns is Carmel, California. I can spend hours walking around taking in one quaint home after another. These facelifts will give you inspiration regardless of what size home you live in. Whether it’s a cottage built-in the 50’s or a newer home, just tweaking a paint color, landscaping, etc. can breath new life and offer mass curb appeal.
Bright Home Makeover
If you don’t watch Joanna and Chip Gaines and their show, Fixer Upper on HGTV, you will want to start tuning in. The home above had overgrown shrubs and boring colors. They brightened the home by painting it white. They also redid the windows on the right creating balance.
Neglected Home Gets Major Curb Appeal
Overgrown landscaping can be a problem at any home but especially small homes where it can be larger than the home itself. The porch addition and the curved walkway add charm and warmth to this house.
Great Ranch Update
Painting this brick house, adding shutters and window boxes took this house to a whole new level.
1950’s Cape Remodel
I love the addition of the arched overhang at the entrance on this house. The paint and landscaping upgrades made a huge difference too.
Painted Facade Adds Major Curb Appeal
This 1950’s home went from old to new with these upgrades. The dark charcoal gray paint makes the house pop. The new windows, door, landscaping and pavers were perfect choices for this facelift.
Run Down Cottage Gets a Face Lift
This small cottage found on Better Homes & Gardens went from an ugly duckling to a swan! So charming!

Dormers make such a difference in this home. It really breaks up a boring roof line.

If your house is too small but you love the neighborhood, sometimes it is worth it to add on. Sicora did a beautiful job with the addition this house.
