The invitations have been sent, the decorations made and now it’s time to work on the Valentine’s Day Menu for your party. Your whole meal does not have to be red; however, it’s fun to incorporate a little red for a festive touch.
Valentine’s Day Menu Selections
Here are some examples of what you can serve for your Valentine’s Day party. These are suggestions that you can build on. Depending on your choices, you can select complimentary side dishes and a salad from your recipe collection. You can also check out my OMG Pinterest Boards for additional inspiration.
Valentine Hors d’oeuvres
Cooking for Keeps has a great post on Balsamic Strawberry and Goat Cheese Crostini. I have made these before and they are delicious and oh so colorful!
I love the way The Enchanted Home displayed these shrimp cocktail appetizers in the shape of a heart in these individual servings.
In a previous blog post I shared my Smoked Salmon Appetizer on a Stick recipe. It has been one of my most popular posts.
Valentine’s Day Entrée Suggestions
Depending on your party, whether it is formal or casual or on a budget, one of these entrée’s will inspire your Valentine’s menu planning.
My easy go to beef tenderloin roast will allow you time to mingle with your guests.
For those that prefer fish, this Honey Salmon in foil via The Wicked Noodle looks so moist!
Crispy Chicken Scallopini with Tomatoes in a Lemon-Butter White Wine Sauce via The Comfort of Cooking is great for those on a budget. The tomatoes offer a great pop of color for the holiday.
If your party is on the casual side, this Ricotta Manicotti casserole from Martha Stewart would be great with a salad and some red wine. You can prepare it in advance.
Festive Valentine’s Day Desserts
Normally I would spend more time offering suggestions for starters and the main meal as I am not baker. But there is something about Valentine’s Day and sweets and I found these desserts irresistible! After all, this blog is all about OMG moments and these desserts fit the bill. I know if they were placed in front of me, the first words out of my mouth would be Oh. My. Gosh.
I love how artistic this White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake from Cooking Classy is. Creating the heart-shaped design is easy and oh so clever!
I love individual desserts that you can plate up in advance. These Heart-Shaped Chocolate Raspberry Cakes from Cooking Channel TV are beautiful.
No special cake pan required! The blog Daisy Pickers shows how to create a Heart shaped cake. All it takes is one square and one round cake pan.
As you may recall in previous posts, I love any dessert with lemon in it. These Lemon Mousse Parfaits with Raspberry Hearts from Delish look so pretty.
Why not have two desserts – – One for those wanting to splurge and one for those sill honoring their new year’s resolutions! This Healthy Fruit Heart found on Sassy Dealz is an adorable presentation of fruit and would be a hit on your Valentine’s Day Menu.
Speaking of menus, you can print out a menu for each place setting for a special touch. If you need a template, Sarah’s Hearts has a free printable menu template.

Thank you for sharing. I mad the Heart-Shaped Chocolate Raspberry Cakes. Mine tasted great, but looked terrible. I need to make the cake a bit firmer to help hold the chocolate.
