I remember being in high school and I couldn’t wait to receive my fall issue of Seventeen Magazine. I not only loved seeing the fall fashions; I also loved seeing all of the plaid that made it’s debut every fall. Kind of surprising because I wore a plaid uniform during my Catholic grade school days. Maybe that’s when I became Mad for Plaid!
Well, plaid has come a long way since the 70’s! Following are elegant ways to incorporate plaid into your life from fashion, entertaining to decorating.
Ralph Lauren’s Mix & Match Style
To me, plaid screams warm and cozy, whether it’s in fashion or home decor. It’s masculine yet can have feminine touches. High end designers such as Ralph Lauren are known for their plaids. He especially knew how to mix and match patterns.
I love this elegant bedroom with a black and white Glen Plaid mixed with a Tartan Plaid. Of course the leopard accent pillow feeds my animal print obsession. To view more of his luxury bedding collection, visit Ralph Lauren.
Iconic Burberry Plaid
The British luxury fashion house Burberry is known for its signature plaid – rich camel paired with black, red and cream. It’s probably one of the most well-known plaids by name.
Dining with Plaid
I have featured the blog Home is Where the Boat Is before on my site. Who wouldn’t want to dine at this lovely fall table graced with a plaid throw or picnic by the water on a plaid blanket? The plaid is so inviting.
Shelly at Confetti Style made these adorable DIY mug wraps. A great way to dress up your plain mugs for a fall party if you are serving warm cider, mulled wine or hot chocolate.
Festive Plaid Ribbon for the Holidays
Carolyne Roehm has the touch when it comes to festive gift wrapping. Her package is pure eye candy!
Plaid is a classic for Christmas decorating. I love the combination of the plaid bow with the feathers, pine cones and berries found on The Everyday Home.
More Decorating with Plaid
Ralph Lauren isn’t the only game in town for decorating with plaid. Williams Sonoma Home has a similar look. I love the dark walls and fur blanket thrown into the mix.
Plaid is ideal for fall as there are so many rich colors. Burnt orange, hunter green, chocolate brown just to name a few.
Animals are Mad for Plaid Too
I am a rare breed. I have never had a dog or cat. Regardless, I do love a cute dog and who could resist one in a plaid scarf?

I saved the best for last thanks to Style Me Pretty. This baby boy in his adorable kilt will brighten your day! Too cute for words.
