With the winter chill I find I stay so much warmer by wearing a scarf. My dilemma has always been that I don’t like the look of a top-heavy, bulky scarf. If your well endowed you understand.
Scarves are a great accessory whether wearing them as outerwear with your coat or as part of your outfit. They can jazz up your wardrobe and add a pop of color to a neutral top.
I remember being in Paris and thinking that so many of the women wore scarves and how fashionable they looked.
My Favorite Way to Tie a Bulky or Long Scarf
I fell in love with this clever way of styling a scarf. I’ve seen it called the NYC Tie, the Four Knot Tie and the Pretzel Knot. Regardless of the name, I love how this style of tying a scarf makes a bulky one lay flat. It’s perfect for pashminas, shawls and blanket scarves. Following are some great examples.
The Pretzel Knot Scarf
This plaid scarf tied in the pretzel knot will keep the neck warm and look fashionable at the same time.
I think we all have a pashmina in our closet. Even with the fabric being thin, there is a lot of it and it can still be bulky. The pretzel knot is a great solution to combat the bulkiness.
Earlier this year I posted 15 Ways to Stylishly Wear a Brooch. Adding one to a scarf is one of them.
Nordstrom apparently likes tying the scarf this way as well. Following are two of their scarves as well as a video tutorial.

Thanks, Elaine! Love the Pretzel Knot. No longer will I have to leave the house looking like I merely wrapped my scarf around my neck three times…which is precisely what I did.
