It is week four of the One Room Challenge. I love having a deadline to get my foyer finished because it has motivated me to work hard at pulling it together, even though I have hardly been home with my travel schedule. Thankfully I have been able to shop on-line to find the pieces I wanted.
Foyer Area Rug
Today was one of the last pieces to the puzzle! I found a foyer area rug for my entry. I have been looking for the right rug for months and nothing knocked my socks off … until today. My foyer is very neutral with cream walls and black doors. My new leopard stair runner and gold chandelier are beautiful but I still needed a punch of color for my foyer.
My dining room is to the right of my foyer and the wall color is mustard gold. My den is to the left and the walls are red. This wonderfully bright rug pulls the bright colors from those room together.
I had to take into consideration the clearance from my front door so I couldn’t go with a rug that had a high pile. I also wanted an unusual size. Thank you Macy’s!
Foyer Table/Bar Cart
At the bottom of my steps I have a mirror that I am keeping there. It is gold and black and currently I have a plant under it. I wanted to do something different and have looked at hundreds of entryway tables but once again, couldn’t find something that I not only liked but would also fit the area. I decided to switch to a bar cart for my entryway table.
A bar cart is a bit unique for the foyer but I will only accessorize it with flowers and a few other accent pieces. I will have the flexibility to use it for parties as a “bar cart” though since it can easily be moved. I found this fabulous bar cart at One King’s Lane.
When we host large parties we like to give our guests a signature drink when they come in whether it be champagne for a special occasion or something else. The bar cart at the entrance will be perfect for that!
Coat Closet
My brass knobs have been installed on the coat closet doors and they look great. Now that I am getting farther along with the project, I feel my black doors and the stair steps need to have a glossier finish so the painter will soon be out for one more coat.
Artwork
I am keeping my artwork which I still enjoy. They are prints in ornate gold frames. They are displayed on the left wall as you go up the steps. These prints are from a boutique I used to own. I love mixing old and new together.
Foyer Selections
To sum up what I have pulled together for my foyer one room challenge, I put together the following collage. I can’t wait to get all my new pieces in and installed!
Two more weeks till the big reveal. I hope everything comes in on time!
I’m loving that brass and gold are back in vogue! How about you?
