I hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend to kick off the summer. We started ours with entertaining some friends on our screened in porch Friday evening. Trader Joe’s had some beautiful lilacs that I paired with some pink mums for a pretty casual centerpiece. It’s the best bargain in town for flowers at $10 +/- for both.
One of the appetizers I served was Shishito Peppers that I also purchased at Trader Joe’s.
I tossed them with some olive oil, blistered them in a frying pan and served with some sea salt. Healthy and delicious. The peppers are very similar to the Padron Peppers I wrote about last year which are available a little later in summer. I blistered those on the grill. Both are delicious and in my opinion similar. If you want to know the difference between the two, Happy Boy Farms wrote an article on the two peppers.
Enjoy this week’s worthy reads. I’m kicking off this week’s list with more Summer Entertaining Tips.
Summer Entertaining Tips
I’m a big fan of Colin Cowie and thought I would kick off today’s Worthy Reads with his Summer Entertaining To Do List. It’s my favorite time of year to entertain and especially love it when the weather cooperates and we can dine outdoors.
Americas Best Lobster Rolls
I love lobster rolls so when I came across this link to Food & Wine’s article on America’s Best Lobster Rolls, I knew I had to include it in this week’s post. Have you had any of these?
Room of the Week
I love the wall of windows in this great room featured in Architectural Digest. The tall windows make you feel like the cyprus trees are part of the decor!
Recipe of the Week
I came across this recipe by Julie from Menu Musings for Stuffed Baby Artichokes with Lemon Vinaigrette. Julie had me at Lemon and Artichokes! (Baby artichokes can also be found at Trader Joe’s when in season)
Mad Men Creator (Sort of) Explains the Show’s Ending
Another TV series has come to an end and there has been a lot of discussion as to what the end of Mad Men meant. This article from TV Guide gives the Creator’s viewpoint of the ending (sort of).
If you enjoyed the series, you will also enjoy flipping through 37 pictures in the photo gallery from special scenes throughout the years.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week.

What a beautiful lilac arrangement! I’ll have to check out Trader Joe’s for fresh flowers, I never think of that!
