I hope you enjoyed your weekend. I enjoyed a walk around my yard to see my perennials starting to pop through the dirt. The bleeding hearts amaze me more than anything. They grow so fast you can almost see them move! I also love the Chartreuse color of spring leaves which are just starting to appear on the trees in Columbus. Spring is my favorite season.

I’m always attracted to a recipe that has great photography. Second to those mouth-watering photos are the words “Make Ahead”. It’s music to my ears!

How to Really Drive Across the U.S. Hitting Major Landmarks
I have always loved looking at maps and globes. Give me an atlas and I could be entertained for quite a while! So needless to say, I found this article interesting about Michigan State University doctoral student Randy Olson. He devised a map for a road trip throughout the US with the following parameters:
- It would make at least one stop in all 48 states in the contiguous U.S.
- Each stop would be at a National Natural Landmark, National Historic Site, National Park, or National Monument
- It would be a true road trip, taken by car and not leave U.S. soil.

Anne Kim with InStyle Magazine had the pleasure of taking a cooking class with Lidia Bastianich of the famous Eataly. (I am jealous Anne!)
I wrote about the Chicago Eataly that I went to in October and fell in love with it. I would have enjoyed taking a class from the wonderful Lidia B! Second best is reading the 20 tips that Anne walked away. I loved tip number 6! She also shares a bonus recipe.

This laundry room by Newport Beach Home Builders Spinnaker Development was so nice that I thought it was worthy of being the room of the week. I love the windows above the washer and dryer and that fabulous long counter! Laundry wouldn’t be a chore in this room!

While we are on the subject of laundry rooms, this article on 6 Major Mistakes You Make Ironing found in Good Housekeeping was fitting. We are entering what I call ironing season anyway! I hardly ever have to iron during the winter. Sweaters and jackets usually don’t need pressing; however, summer cottons and linens are a whole new ballgame.

I came across this article 9 Ways to Make Your Life Better with the Danish Concept of Hygge in Town & Country Magazine. Frankly, I had never heard of the word Hygge. Have you?
“Pronounced “hoo-ga,” this Danish concept cannot be translated to one single word but encompasses a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life.”
So what’s the big deal about Hygge and why am I sharing it? Well, I found it interesting that “this national obsession with all things cozy is credited as one of the reasons why Denmark is always at the top of the list of the world’s happiest countries, despite their infamously miserable winters.”
I love the positive spin hygge puts on their life. It’s something we should all work at.

This week’s Worthy Reads includes this a Paella recipe, a foodies guide to Napa Valley, a great source for classic cocktails as well as a 2017 decor trend.
I am so thankful that the ice storm that was predicted to hit Columbus never came. We had a busy weekend with two nights of having guests for dinner. Friday night I made my tried and true Rack of Lamb. It’s so easy to prepare and a great entrée for a work night. Last night I tried a couple of new recipes that I will soon share on the blog.
