It’s still pretty cold in Columbus for being the last few days of March. I tried planting my pansies but the pots on my front porch were still frozen. I am hopeful that by midweek with warmer weather in the forecast, I’ll be able to plant them before Easter weekend.
Enjoy these photos and links for this week’s Worthy Reads.
Room of the Week
I love this hallway found on the blog Magenta and Lime. It’s rustic, yet elegant. I love the simplicity and oddly for me, because I love color, I like that this hallway is completely neutral. It’s so opposite of my home but so refreshing to look at and worth sharing. Your thoughts?
The Best Annuals for Cutting
Since I have flowers on my mind with my spring pots, it seemed appropriate to include this worthy read. I am sure I am not the only one itching to get into the garden!
A couple of weeks ago I shared 2015’s Top New Perennials. This week you can read about the The Best Annuals for Cutting from Better Homes & Gardens.
Who doesn’t like to have fresh flowers in their house! My friend Marti has a beautiful cutting garden and she fills her home (and some of her lucky friends’ homes) with gorgeous bouquets. In my previous post, From Garden to Vase, I shared fresh flower arrangements from her garden including this stunning vase filled with dahlias and zinnias.
The 50 Healthiest Foods of All Time (With Recipes)
Thanks to Time Magazine, you can scroll through a list of The 50 Healthiest Foods of all Time along with recipes.
I love avocados and have been having a half of one as part of my lunch when eating at home. I leave the seed in the other half and wrap Saran Wrap around it, making sure the cut side is touching the Saran Wrap as tightly as possible. There is very little browning this way. I enjoy the avocado with just a little salt and pepper on it.
How many of these 50 foods do you eat on a regular basis?

Recipe of the Week
I get excited when I come across shrimp at the super market that is from the U.S. and wild caught! I prefer to not purchased the ever popular farm raised shrimp from the Orient. It is getting harder and harder to find my wild caught variety but I just picked up a bag the other day.
This week I am going to try this Shrimp Étouffée recipe that I found on The Wicked Noodle. New Orleans is on my bucket list, but until I go there, I will have to rely on making Cajun food at home.
Instead of piling the shrimp on top of the rice, plate the shrimp first and then add a scoop of rice on top. You can use an ice scream scoop. Garnish with the sliced green onions. It makes a pretty presentation.

Can you please tell me what kind of flooring was used in the room of the week?
Elaine says
Hi Lindsey. Thanks for visiting my blog. I followed the links to the original photo and the brochure for the condo unit said “Wide plank engineered hardwood flooring throughout”. I hope that helps.
