Chocolate covered strawberries are delicious when simply covered in chocolate. For me, that would also be dark chocolate which makes them healthy, right? Dark chocolate is supposed to be good for you.
They are so easy to make and are great served on their own or as a garnish to a dessert plate.
My key to the perfect covered strawberry is that it is completely dry before dipping in chocolate. I wash the strawberries, pat them dry with a paper towel and then place them on a cookie sheet lined with several paper towels. The chocolate won’t adhere well if the strawberries are wet.
I often take the quick route and purchase the chocolate in microwaveable containers such as this one from Dolci Fruita. It only takes a couple of minutes to melt the chocolate. No double boiler or mess to clean up. The container is disposable.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries for Valentine’s Day
Chocolate covered strawberries often get dressed up for the holidays such as Valentine’s Day. They can be decked out in different colored chocolates and garnished with sprinkles, drizzled with more chocolate or dipped in nuts or coconut.
Instead of a box of chocolates as a Valentine’s gift, why not make some chocolate covered strawberries? You can purchase small white boxes at a craft store such as Michaels. Add a pretty ribbon and you have a welcoming gift.
No time to make them? You can have them sent via Shari’s Berries or 1/800 Baskets.
