I have spent countless hours trying to find the right door knobs for my coat closet in my foyer. I just had my doors painted black and want a special pair of door knobs to make them pop! I fell in love with a drop ring style as shown in the picture below. They look similar to a door knocker. I have been on a mission ever since to find similar brass knobs.
There are so many resources on line. Houzz and Pinterest are great starting points. I also have used Google Images. I’ve searched individual companies on line and have gone to local specialty hardware stores.
I thought I could use brass door knockers but unfortunately they have been too large. I am waiting for a few companies to call me back with specifications and then I am ready to make my purchase.
Making Your Doors Unique
Door knobs can really make the difference taking a door from simple to special. There are numerous styles to choose from and also different finishes.
Architectural details such as wood moldings can also dress up your doors.
I love the gold molding added to these doors. The molding compliments the brass square knobs. It’s a unique design and makes a statement!
I love the look of double narrow doors. I especially love the door knob placement in the middle of the door instead of the normal placement off to the side. It gives it a more stylish look. The white doors below with the gold centered knobs is striking.
These double doors are quite busy and I don’t see the need for two handles on each door. I do, however, like the door knobs and would love each style on their own.
This leather wrapped door with nail head trim is masculine and gorgeous. The antique brass door knobs pair well with the muted tan leather.
Exterior Door Knobs
Door knobs can also dress up your front entrance. The striking orange doors give this neutral house a pop of color! It appears I have a bit of an obsession with door knobs placed in the center of the door.
The contrast of these black doors with the brass door knobs is striking. The design on the wood doors perfectly frames the knobs. The round brass plates behind the knobs gives them more substance. By themselves, they would have been too small for the size of the door.
Following are more double doors but these have a drop down pendant for their door knobs. The antique finish of the knobs against the sage colored doors is elegant.
Do you have any great resources for door hardware? Have you changed out any of your door knobs to dress up your doors?

Does anyone know where the top door can be purchased? The one with the gold molding/routing in an art deco pattern?

I’ve been trying to findhardware for center door knob. So for a 36” door it will take almost an 18” backseat . Where does someone find that hardware? Having no luck.

Hi Neil. I would go to a local company where they can special order items for you (specialty cabinets and doors) or find one on line such as https://www.firstimpressionsint.com/products/product-type/door-handles-pulls where they can also do custom work. Contact them to see if they can order what you need. Good luck and send me a picture when you are done!
