I was at Costco the other day and just as I was getting ready to check out, I saw one of the workers wheeling a display rack of colorful flowers. These planters had Daffodils, Begonias and Kalanchoes in them. I knew they would make a great Easter centerpiece for my Buffet. I was modeling my arrangement after one that I featured in a former post, Elegant Easter Table Decorations.
Materials Used in my Easter Centerpiece
My mother recently gave me one of her silver bowls that she no longer uses. I wanted to use it for my centerpiece. To preserve the bowl from any damage, I found a glass bowl that fit inside perfectly. I lined the silver bowl with a small towel to protect it further.
I found some adorable white chocolate bunnies at a local candy store called Anthony Thomas. I bought them in two sizes not knowing which one I would need.
I also had some extra pansies from my front porch containers that I planned to use as filler.
Creating the Centerpiece
When I came to deconstruct the planter, I was pleasantly surprised to see that each of the plants were in their own container. I didn’t need to break them apart with my gardening tool.
I placed all three plants in my glass bwol and filled in the bare spots with the white pansies.
Once the flowers were in place, I placed the planter in the silver bowl and covered it with the green moss from the Costco planter.
I ran hot water over a metal cake tester and then inserted it into the bottom of the bunny to create a hole for the wood skewer. I had to play around with the length of the skewer. I wanted the bunny to be nestled in the plants as if he was eating the flowers.
Mission accomplished! I can’t wait to set the buffet tomorrow with this adorable Easter centerpiece.
Happy Easter and safe travels for those on the road.
