OMG Worthy Reads, Week 31
This week’s worthy reads include a beautiful kitchen design, health advice, an easy lime chicken recipe and Colin Cowie’s advice on how to be a good guest!
Beautiful May is here along with sun, flowering trees and warmer temperatures. The smell of mulch is in the air and in Columbus, homeowners are starting to plant their annuals. It’s my favorite time of year.
On to my Worthy Reads for today. Enjoy!
16 Tips for Being a Gracious Guest
Colin Cowie, the ultimate celebrity host, has a great list of reminders on how to be a gracious guest, whether at a dinner party or at a wedding. We can always use a refresher course on manners and I thought this was worth sharing.
Room of the Week
I tend to feature a lot of kitchens in my Room of the Week feature because that is the most used room in the house. It’s where everyone tends to gather. I came across this gorgeous kitchen featured in House Beautiful and fell in love with the color scheme! They call it “A kitchen inspired by the ocean”. The tile on the back splash is gorgeous and the chandeliers are so unique! What’s your opinion?
Recipe of the Week
I’m a huge fan of lemon juice but occasionally like to mix it up and use lime juice. It’s a brighter flavor has a unique freshness about it. I came across this recipe for an Easy Lime Chicken Recipe from Gimme Some Oven and it’s on my menu for the week.
The Bottom Line On All That Contradicting Health Advice You Hear
I found a great read on MSN Health & Fitness clearing up contradicting health advice about Exercising, Sugar and Calcium. I was especially interested in reading about the Calcium supplements after severely shattering my wrist last year. Even with my bad fall, my family practitioner advised against my taking calcium supplements and to get my calcium from food as this article suggests. It’s a quick article with three slides to flip through and well worth your time.
What’s Your Protein IQ?
If you are like me, I must have some protein in my meal in order to stay satisfied and not feel hungry within an hour or two. Are you like that? If so, you will like this chart found on A Healthy Life for Me by Women’s Health Magazine.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week!

9 Ways to Make Your Life Better with the Danish Concept of Hygge

I came across this article 9 Ways to Make Your Life Better with the Danish Concept of Hygge in Town & Country Magazine. Frankly, I had never heard of the word Hygge. Have you?
“Pronounced “hoo-ga,” this Danish concept cannot be translated to one single word but encompasses a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life.”
So what’s the big deal about Hygge and why am I sharing it? Well, I found it interesting that “this national obsession with all things cozy is credited as one of the reasons why Denmark is always at the top of the list of the world’s happiest countries, despite their infamously miserable winters.”
I love the positive spin hygge puts on their life. It’s something we should all work at.

I am so thankful that the ice storm that was predicted to hit Columbus never came. We had a busy weekend with two nights of having guests for dinner. Friday night I made my tried and true Rack of Lamb. It’s so easy to prepare and a great entrée for a work night. Last night I tried a couple of new recipes that I will soon share on the blog.
Enjoy this week’s Worthy Reads.
