This week’s Worthy Reads includes a spot on article on Robins nesting, great info on skin care ingredients, a Greek Chicken recipe & great decorating tips.
I can’t believe it has been 30 weeks since I started this weekly feature of worthy reads from around the web. This week I am going to start off with my bird watching on my window ledge. Once I saw the Robin crafting her nest, I decided to do some research so I would know what to expect. This article was spot on!
My Robin and Her Nest
First of all, please excuse the window screen in the photographs but I couldn’t remove the screen without interrupting the nest. In years past, birds would always try to build a nest in a front door wreath.
This year, it was quite exciting to watch this Robin build her nest outside my home office window. She made the nest perfectly round by getting inside and spreading her wings. She would then turn about an inch and do the same thing. Round and round she went until the nest was perfectly shaped.
I found a great article on Robins and their eggs at Learner. It was an interesting read and I thought you might enjoy it as well. The Robin lays one egg a day with the typical nest having four eggs. They usually lay them at mid morning. It was fascinating to watch and it all played out exactly like the article described. Now I can’t wait till the birds hatch!
17 Take Away Tips from the HGTV 2015 Dream Home
Earlier this year I featured the great room of the HGTV Dream Home as my Room of the Week. This week I wanted to share a blog post by Melissa of the decorating blog The Inspired Room. She did a great job of highlighting decorating advice from each room. I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.

I like the coffered ceiling of this beautiful kitchen from House & Home. The island is a great size and I like the pattern and size of the travertine tiles.

Witch Hazel
The Beauty Editors of Lucky Magazine put together a great list by of tried and true ingredients in skin care products recommended by Dermatologists. This slide show of 34 items includes staples such as Witch Hazel, Vitamin C, Glycerin and Peptides just to name a few. As I get older I am more interested in what these ingredients can do to help me age more gracefully. This list will help me to decipher which products I need.
Please note that you will come across an advertisement about every sixth slide. It only lasts three seconds. There is a wealth of information in these slides and well worth waiting those three seconds to move on to the next slide.
Recipe of the Week
Anyone that has grilled chicken breasts knows that there is a fine line between moist chicken and dried and tough chicken breasts. Marinating chicken always helps with both flavor and moistness.
I came across this recipe for Very Greek Grilled Chicken by Kalyn’s Kitchen. I saw that she scored her chicken breasts which would add more flavor and make the chicken cook quicker. I can’t wait to try this.
I agree with Kalyn. I would make extra for leftovers. These flavorful chicken breasts would make great salads and sandwiches.
Please note that the recipe calls for Greek Seasoning. I will make my own Greek Seasoning as most of them have MSG in them. Here’s a recipe for Greek Seasoning from All Recipes.

I came across this article 9 Ways to Make Your Life Better with the Danish Concept of Hygge in Town & Country Magazine. Frankly, I had never heard of the word Hygge. Have you?
“Pronounced “hoo-ga,” this Danish concept cannot be translated to one single word but encompasses a feeling of cozy contentment and well-being through enjoying the simple things in life.”
So what’s the big deal about Hygge and why am I sharing it? Well, I found it interesting that “this national obsession with all things cozy is credited as one of the reasons why Denmark is always at the top of the list of the world’s happiest countries, despite their infamously miserable winters.”
I love the positive spin hygge puts on their life. It’s something we should all work at.

This week’s Worthy Reads includes this a Paella recipe, a foodies guide to Napa Valley, a great source for classic cocktails as well as a 2017 decor trend.
I am so thankful that the ice storm that was predicted to hit Columbus never came. We had a busy weekend with two nights of having guests for dinner. Friday night I made my tried and true Rack of Lamb. It’s so easy to prepare and a great entrée for a work night. Last night I tried a couple of new recipes that I will soon share on the blog.
