It’s good to be back home and at my computer blogging. I took some time off to care for my dad who was ill, but thank God he is on the mend and feeling better.
I wanted to share some gorgeous sandwich cakes that I have found on the web. They are so creative and pretty, garnished with ingredients such as fresh herbs, veggies, hard-boiled eggs, shrimp, salmon and caviar. You can always substitute ingredients. If you like the way the smoked salmon looks on top of the cake but don’t like salmon, use shaved ham.
A sandwich cake is ideal for a showstopper for a luncheon or bridal shower. They would look pretty served on a cake stand. I love the creativity behind these cakes.
You can pick whatever ingredients you like to create a sandwich cake. Think tea sandwiches in the shape of a cake or even a savory cheesecake. Many of the cakes are from European or Australian websites. Some of the links will take you to a site showing a tutorial, although not in English. Don’t let that stop you. The step-by-step photos will give you the idea of how to put a sandwich cake together and spark your creativity. Let me know which is your favorite in the comments below.

Oh My! A reminder of my childhood. My grandmother use to make decorated Savory Cakes for her friends when she had fancy luncheons. I was so excited as a child to get to attend one of the special parites every summer when I visited her home. She served tea and fresh fruit to end the event. I think sherry was also served but it took me many years to figure out what was in the pretty stem glasses! Might have been during proabition!

Where can I find the bread. I came from Minnesota to Temecula, CA. I had a supplier there, but he sold. Couldn’t find anyone else. We are now in Huntersville, NC and my granddaughter is coming out and I want to find the bread. Any help would be very helpful. Thanks
