In this week’s holiday home tour, we are sharing holiday celebrations and special touches around our homes. Today’s post is about a holiday brunch.
Welcome back to the Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour. If you missed part one, you can see it here. A special welcome to those arriving here from Confetti Style.
Holiday Home Tour
As part of the home tour, this week it’s about celebrating and special touches around our homes. I can’t wait to see what the other participants have shared. We had a full weekend with three holiday parties, one of which was at our home and featuring in today’s post.
Our Holiday Supper Club Brunch
This past Sunday we co-hosted our Supper Club Holiday Brunch. We have a wonderful group of friends in our supper club and we have been at it for 19 years. We can sit around a table for hours catching up.
Entertaining a group of 12 is one thing; trying to take pictures for the blog at the same time is the challenging part.
Setting the Buffet
I always try to do as much as possible the night before our parties. If I am serving buffet style, I like to set all my platters out and label each one so I know what is going in each platter.
I create different heights on the buffet by using my Tupperware cake saver and some other containers. I cover the containers with pashminas. They wash up nicely so I don’t worry about any spills or stains.
Setting the food out goes so smoothly when the buffet is prepared in advance.
In my buffet centerpiece, I placed limes in the bottom of my vase and fresh cranberries at the top of the vase for a festive touch.
Setting the Table
In order to fit 12 around our dining room table, we remove all of our side chairs which are rather large, and replace them with folding chairs. (We just bought these at Target and they are a nice upgrade from the card table chairs).
My friend Regina with Natural Design Florals made my centerpieces. She does amazing work. These centerpieces included miniature kale, white hydrangeas, roses and green berries.
We like using place cards for Supper Club and always try to mix up the seating arrangements. Couples rarely sit together.
Even though this was a brunch, I still used candles. I love having candles on the dining table, regardless of the time of day.
Cocktail Hour
Our co-hosts brought some amazing appetizers including Oysters Rockefeller, Escargot and Shrimp Cocktail. We sipped on Mimosas and Bloody Mary’s as we all caught up.
Thanks for stopping by.
