Architectural details such as wood molding and paneling can add character to your home. It adds a custom touch to a room and I love the addition of a subtle pattern to the walls.
I fell in love with the look of wood paneling when I toured my home for the first time before buying it. I loved how the builder added the wood panels to the entryways between two rooms. It was a nice transition instead of plain drywall.
I found similar wood panels in what appears to be an older home below.

I came across an interesting article by Coats Homes, A Lesson in Wainscoating and Paneling. Wainscoating is below chair rail and panel molding or wood paneling is often floor to ceiling height.
I have found a great collection of photos of different wood paneling and wainscoting. Each one adds a unique detail and design to the room. Let me know your thoughts on this modern-day wood paneling.

I, too, love the architectural details like these. My home in San Antonio was built in the 1930s. It was a very famous house and a work of art: curved walls, crown molding that was what they called “dental molding.” It was plaster, not wood. A couple of magazines approached me, but I never felt compelled to share it with the world. It should have been on the historic register, but I never did that because they would have dictated colors, etc. you can use to paint the house. After I sold it and moved to the country, a developer then bought it and tore it down! He died the following week, so… Karma?

OMG … I hate to hear when developers tear down beautiful buildings. Bigger and newer isn’t always better. Give me charm and character any day!
